LOCATION

Union is located 16 miles north of Interstate 20 on Highway 15 and 492, with Highways 494 and 489 coming into Union.

FIRE DEPARTMENT

Maintains a Class 8 rating and is staffed by over twenty professionally trained volunteers. A new fire station houses two pumpers, one tanker and a rescue unit with jaws of life. Fire Chief: Dale Yates

UNION PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM

Has approximately 900 students, kindergarten through 12th grade and maintains high academic standards. Employment: 100;  Superintendent of Education: Dr. Michael McInnis

EAST CENTRAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Located 8 miles south of Union and has academic programs as well as vocational-technical classes to cover any area of manufacturing. Literacy and/or training specialized to a particular industry is free through the State Department of Education.

LAIRD HOSPITAL

Since 1938, with new facility built in 1987 and Laird Home Health employee 247 employees.  Modern 50-bed hospital with 4 intensive care units equipped with state of the art medical equipment.   Laird Hospital has been ranked among the top small town hospitals in the nation.  Medical services include full service physical therapy, surgery, in-house CAT Scan, nuclear medicine, physical fitness, intensive care, nursing services, emergency room with 4 beds, cardiopulmonary, laboratory, home health, hospice care, social services and radiology. The hospital is also a certified member of the Cardiac Emergency Network in cooperation with Mississippi Baptist Medical Center.
